At the beginning of the 20th century, many cities in Europe had to face an extreme housing shortage. A young generation of architects and planners took up the issue. They competed, cooperated and communicated across all borders. Fixed circles were formed. The housing estates attracted a reform-oriented population too. During the Nazi regime there was a break.
